Sophie Kwaslema is a bold force in the world of adventure tourism. Driven by her curiosity and a love for the outdoors, Sophie’s journey began in 2010 when she moved to Moshi and discovered a calling in the world of tourism. Sophie‘s determination and natural people skills led her to enrol at Mweka Wildlife College, where her passion found purpose and she became one of the few professional female safari and mountain guides in Tanzania.
A proud Iraqw woman, wife, mother and founder of Lady Tusk Safaris, Sophie leads each safari and hiking experience with heart and skills, bringing her background in wildlife ecology and her commitment to cultural heritage into each of her guests’ journeys. Over the past 8 years, Sophie has not only built a successful business but a movement championing women’s leadership in tourism, mentoring the next generation of professional guides, and pushing boundaries in a traditionally male-dominated field. Sophie believes that young women need both vision and access — the chance to see themselves in different roles and the tools to get there. Her legacy is not just in the path she’s walked, but in the path she’s clearing for others. In a world where women are often told “you can’t,” Sophie built a company that proves women can — and do.

Her journey from wildlife studies at CAWM to advanced EcoTraining certification reflects her deep commitment to conservation and authentic experiences. Whether guiding summit attempts on Africa's highest peak or tracking wildlife across the Serengeti, Stella weaves together Tanzania's stunning landscapes with rich cultural stories, creating transformative journeys that honor both nature and heritage for every traveler she guides.

For six years, Agnes has carried dreams up Kilimanjaro's slopes as a porter, every step building toward her vision of becoming a guide.
